What to do and see in Saalbach Hinterglemm
Saalbach-Hinterglemm lies 1,003 m above sea level and is almost completely orientated
towards tourism. 16,500 beds make it the biggest tourist destination in
Austria.
In summer 400
km of marked trails cover one of the biggest areas for walking and
hiking in
Austria. Between May and October there are four lifts available
to help walkers and sightseers ascend into the mountains. Saalbach
and Hinterglemm also offer a big open-air swimming pool and two
tennis courts. The infrastructure also benefits from a profusion
of restaurants, bars and pubs. There are over
200
km of mountain bike trails to entice mountain
biking enthusiasts. The majority of visitors stay during the winter
season, which starts at the beginning of December and continues
until the Easter holidays.
The
ski area extends to an altitude of 2,100 metres and the circuit,
including Leogang, comprises 60 ski lifts and 200 km of prepared
runs. There is plenty of scope for fashionable sports such as snowboarding
and carving. Many visitors are particularly attracted to the night
ski slopes offering a unique on-piste experience in winter.
